It's been a while...
Here's what's been happening for us:
We haven't sold the house, and basically what we are hearing is "The house is great, but the neighborhood..." Our neighborhood is slated for community redevelopment, but that's going to take a while. We have more than one non-resident landlord who haven't taken care of their properties, and in a couple of circumstances, it means graffiti that has never been properly removed. It's not gang graffiti -- it's tagging from bored youth. We have NO gang problems in our area. However, the people who are looking at houses don't seem to know that and are misinterpretting the tags.
So. The house apparently is unsellable. And we can't afford to own two. After the first of the year, there will be "For Sale By Owner" signs in both of our front yards (no need to keep bothering our realtor with a house that won't sell). Whichever one sells first sells. We'll live in the other one. And hopefully won't lose our shirts in the deal. Money's way too tight as it is.

That really stinks, Sparki, I'm sorry to hear it. Nice job on the article in the Register, BTW, I'm sure that the whole issue will be generating much discussion for some time to come. Will any other bishops take this a cue to do the same?

Thanks, St. JB -- I just hope it hasn't triggered too much of a media ick here in Lincoln...
